Current Projects
Guitar Smith Online
This online learning application is being created for Adam Baxley, a Reno, Nevada guitar teacher.
Adam has been developing his teaching methods and materials for years and had the vision of bringing it online.
The site makes extensive use of audio, video and animation to teach beginning and intermediate level guitar. It also tracks lesson progress, logs practice sessions and sends practice reminder emails.
It is currently in free beta (want to learn guitar? Join Now) and will begin accepting paying customers in early 2010.
The site uses Ruby on Rails for the foundation and Flash for the lesson viewer.
Angel Bell Couture
This online store for a Reno, Nevada children's clothing business offers hundreds of unique, trendy designs.
The home page features animated, rotating ads and the store has all the usual features that modern e-commerce sites are expected to have, including:
- Category navigation
- Search
- Wishlist
- Credit card payments
- Email newsletter
- Coupons
- Email-to-a-friend
- Gift messages
- ...and much more
The store was built using the Magento open source shopping cart, which is particularly well suited for stores with a large number of products.
Elmore Oil USA
Elmore Oil is an Australian-invented, all natural, topical pain reliever that is imported for sale in the U.S. by a Reno entrepreneur.
Because only one product is being sold (though it comes in several sizes), I chose Shopify as the host/shopping cart solution.
Shopify is extremely user friendly, even for non-technical users, and it is easy to "skin" (that is, design the look of the site).
As a result, Shopify is less expensive to setup, but it lacks all the features available in the Angel Bell Couture site.
Henry & June Lingerie
Henry & June is the online store I started in 1997.
At the time the store was created, there were few affordable shopping cart solutions to choose from, so except for a few elements in the checkout process, I built the store from the ground up with custom code.
Today, there are many excellent shopping carts to choose from, so rarely does an online store need to be built from scratch.
The Henry & June site may lack some typical online store features (such as a wishlist), but it is extremely fast and responsive. Go ahead, try it out!
Rod Scaccalosi & Associates
This site was created for a Northern California landscape architect to showcase the projects the firm has completed and to provide details about the services they offer.
The site features a photo gallery with pop-up enlargements and an administrative section so the firm can add new projects and photos when needed.
Feel free to call or email me to discuss how I can help your business with an online solution.
